On Monday, January 5, we will commemorate the birthday of Paramahansa Yogananda with a service beginning at 7 pm and ending at approximately 8:30 pm. Please bring a flower to this service as a symbol of your devotion, and a donation may be given as a symbol of your loyalty to the work of Self Realization Fellowship. After the service, we will have a period of fellowship with cake and tea to celebrate Master’s birthday.

Please note that our 3-hour meditation on Tuesday, January 6, has been cancelled.

On Saturday, January 10, we will have a special meditation in honor of Paramahansa Yogananda, beginning at 10:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm. Please bring a fruit as a devotional offering, and a donation in a white envelope may be offered.

Next Saturday, December 13, we will have our All-Day Christmas Meditation, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. Please bring a fruit as a devotional offering, and a donation in a white envelope may be offered. Please make note of the following points:

  • Please be sure to come early, and be prepared to stay at least until the intermission. No one will be permitted to enter the chapel once the meditation has begun. Arriving early will also give you time to become comfortably settled and calm before the meditation begins.
  • You may bring a meditation armrest, if you wish to practice the Aum Meditation Technique during the meditation.
  • If you have a cough or cold, please meditate at home, rather than attend the all-day service. Paramahansa Yogananda insisted on scrupulous observance of this practice when he conducted the Christmas meditation.

On Sunday, December 14, a fellowship gathering will be held immediately after the service with a potluck meal and a visit from Santa. There will be a gift exchange – please bring a simple gift in the five to ten dollar range; women, bring a gift for a woman; men, bring a gift for a man. Please ensure that the gifts are clearly marked. For those of you who would like to bring food for the potluck meal, we have a sign-up sheet available on the free literature table where you can sign up for what you would like to bring. All are invited to attend.

To assess the level of potential participation we ask that men who are interested please complete a brief survey and return by November 30. You can pick up a survey at the free literature table in the foyer and return the survey to a marked folder that is also on the free literature table.

Today’s service marks the end of our Sunday services here in the 4-H Educational Center. We will not be meeting next week, and barring any unforeseen issues, our next Sunday services will be held in our new chapel in two weeks, on November 9.

We will be offering a conducted weekend retreat led by SRF monastics at the 4-H Educational Center from this Friday, September 26 to Sunday September 28. Registration is required; visit our website, srfgreenfield.org, and click on the Retreats menu at the top of the page; then click Conducted Weekend Retreats to fill out the online reservation form. The suggested donation for the conducted weekend retreat is $125. Registration for the retreat is open up to the time of the event, and you can also register on-site.

The retreat begins Friday evening, Sept. 26 with a joint commemoration service for both the birthday and the mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya. The service begins at 7:00 pm and ends at 8:30 pm. Please bring a flower to this service as a symbol of your devotion, and a donation may be given as a symbol of your loyalty to the work of Self Realization Fellowship. Retreat registration is not required to attend this service.

As this joint service celebrates both the birthday and mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya, our mahasamadhi commemoration service scheduled for Tuesday evening, September 30, has been cancelled. However, you are invited to attend a livestreamed one-hour mahasamadhi commemoration service for Lahiri Mahasaya at noon on Tuesday, September 30, led by Sr. Brahmani.  If you cannot attend the livestreamed presentation, the event will be available for viewing through Wednesday, October 1 on the event page.
