Meditate! Meditate! Meditate!

September 4, 2026

Have you ever meditated outdoors on the grounds at Greenfield?

We all meditate. Of course! That’s what members of Self-Realization Fellowship do. As we strive to embrace the life-transforming teachings of our revered Guru Paramahansa Yogananda, we strive to meditate more deeply every day.

We meditate at home, of course. And we’ve been truly blessed with the opportunity to meditate together in our new, recently dedicated Greenfield Retreat Chapel. Meditating together, we uplift and enhance each other’s efforts.

Sacred Outdoor Spaces

Our beloved Guru also emphasized the spiritual benefits of spending time in and meditating in beautiful natural surroundings. (SRF recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of the dedication of Lake Shrine in Los Angeles. That sacred space speaks volumes on how much Yoganandaji valued time spent in sacred outdoor spaces.)

Greenfield Meditation Center is our own sacred space on the eastern side of country. If you live nearby, or if you’re just visiting, take time to visit and enjoy the beauty and the many, many meditation spaces—complete with benches and chairs—that are scattered throughout the grounds.

There is so much to choose from. Watch the video below to get a feel for what awaits you—everything from shaded nooks in the woods, to benches out on the lawn with views of the lakes or flowered gardens, chairs on the front porch of the Greenfield Chapel, chairs on the lower level behind the chapel, benches facing the bronze statue of Lord Jesus blessing the children, benches right by the lakes and on the stairs leading down to the lake…

Greenfield grounds are open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 am to 5 p.m. It’s okay to come by yourself, enjoy the gardens, and the silence, and the birdsong, and the butterflies. Meditate! And it’s okay to bring a friend or a family member.
