Announcements for November 26, 2017

We are celebrating the Christmas spirit by providing Christmas gifts for the residents of the House of Hope, a local shelter for homeless men, as well as providing homemade gifts for residents of a local assisted living home. Your donations toward the purchase of these gifts are welcome, and they can be left in specially marked donation boxes in the dining room.

All gifts will be given in Master's name, which helps people recognize SRF as a contributing member of the Front Royal community.

On Saturday, December 9, we will have our Christmas fellowship for adults and teens, starting at 5:30 pm with meditation, and followed at 6:00 pm with a potluck supper, entertainment, caroling, and a visit from Santa. There will be a gift exchange – please bring a simple gift in the five to ten dollar range; women, bring a gift for a woman; men, bring a gift for a man. Please ensure that the gifts are clearly marked. For those of you who would like to bring food for the potluck supper, we have a sign-up sheet available in the dining room where you can see and sign up for the planned menu items.

The children’s Christmas Party will be held Sunday, December 17, and there will be a short gathering after the readings service featuring caroling with the Sunday school and Teen Group classes, accompanied by a visit from Santa Claus.

We would like to remind everyone to help contribute to the atmosphere of stillness and devotion by maintaining silence when entering the chapel, as well as at the close of service, prior to leaving the chapel. By doing so, we continue the peace we achieve during meditation, both for ourselves and for those who may wish to stay behind and meditate for a few minutes after the service.
